Camp Plymouth Military Vehicle Show & Swap Meet 4/19 through 22, 2023

Post by John Neuenburg » Sun Dec 18, 2022 5:07 pm

Camp Plymouth Military Vehicle Show & Swap Meet is coming to Plymouth, California USA April 19 through 22, 2023 (Sunday is a pull-out day, not a show day). The official flyer below should inform folks who have never been to one of these big SPRING meets the basics for the 2023 show, and old timers will see what is new. All event details are on the event page on www.MVCCNews.net. It includes a Basic Training document, a Daily Briefing activities schedule, this flyer, flyers for the WW2 Jeep Showcase, the Military Dodge Showcase, and the Motorcycle, Scooter, and Bicycle Showcase.

A new thing on the event page is information about a golf cart rental program. If you think you want one, reserve it ASAP. Limited availability. There is also information about RV and travel trailer rental options including having a unit delivered to your RV site, set up, and picked up. This is for someone who doesn't own an RV or trailer, doesn't want to tent or truck camp at the fairgrounds, stay in a hotel, or commute from home, yet wants some nice amenities. Camp Plymouth attendees are being offered a 20% discount by a commercial rental vendor.

The artwork on the flyer is what will be on the event T-shirt and other items that will be for sale at the MVCC HQ tent. The MVCC has been the promoter of these big Spring swap meets since the late 1970s. They are for everyone, not just MVCC members!

In case you copied the image already, this one on 1/24/23 includes an edit. So delete your other one.

Here are the advertising flyers for the three planned MV showcases on Friday April 21, 2023:

No pre-registration or fees but if you can let each coordinator know you will be bringing something that will be appreciated. This is especially true for the bike showcase because it will be done in a RV Village campsite, and we want to plan for space. Check back here or on the MVCC website for that location. The other displays will be in the arena at the adjacent fairgrounds.

The coordinators will have signup sheets to get names and vehicle make, year, model, for a post-event national magazine article or two and the MVCC newsletter.

If anyone wants PDFs of these flyers for posting around town or emailing to others, I can send them to you. This event is open to the public. We want to get the event news out to folks who may not be in the organized MV hobby and might not know about the big Spring meet here, or the 2023 showcase themes. Wouldn't it be a shame if a jeep, Dodge, or bike owner in nearby Placerville or Lodi learned about it the week after the event?!

Who do YOU know who has a one or more of these machines in any condition?

Hopefully, we can get so many military vehicles and hardware at Camp Plymouth in April 2023 that it will resemble a mini-England before the invasion... Well, one can hope...

If anyone has something to display that is not a vehicle but it relates to the display theme, tell the coordinator what you have in mind. For example a display engine on a stand would be great, as would a rolling chassis or a tool display. Treat these showcases as big discussion groups. This is where the experts will be (at least until they disappear to go shopping...)

All Camp Plymouth details are now on the MVCC website on the events calendar tab:

www.MVCCNews.net

Reminder that the camping form is to be used to reserve sites at the RV Village in our group discount block, AND at the fairgrounds. When Jo-Ann puts your name on a RV site or cabin, then you contact the 49er office to put money on it. For the fairground sites, you pay the MVCC in full when you send the form to Jo-Ann. Vendors, amateur or pro, must rent a campsite whether they sleep there or not. Much better value than renting tables at commercial shows.

This event goes through Saturday. It does not end Saturday morning. Sunday is a pull-out day, not a good show day.

We get a lot of out-of-staters to the April meet. Some drive, some fly into Sacramento International or maybe Oakland or San Francisco if they are doing other regional tourism. For Camp Plymouth attendees who are travelling light or otherwise not into tent camping, or hotels, or RV camping because you don't own an RV or travel trailer, check out the RV and travel trailer renting ideas on our website shown below. One option is a Sacramento rental vendor, Advantage Caravans, who is offering our participants a 20% discount on their daily rate for RVs and travel trailers. They will even deliver, set up, and pick up a travel trailer for a reasonable fee - just say the dates and RV site you reserved at the 49er Village RV Resort. For those flying into Sacramento, consider renting an RV from them and taking an Uber from airport to Advantage. Drive the RV. No need to rent a car.

Staying at the event is nice, whether in the RV Village or our tent campground at the adjacent fairgrounds. Lots of partying going on. There is a grocery store with deli just down the street. Remember the show and swap meet is at both sides of this event.

Also see the website for our new golf cart rental program. It will be updated soon to show their cancellation terms. Reserve ASAP, numbers are limited.

See all details including Basic Training, the activities schedule, event flyer and all three MV showcase flyers, and more at www.MVCCNews.net on the Event tab.

I can’t believe all the RV spaces are already sold out for the Spring Meet.

Well, I guess that's both good and bad news. Hopefully, you spoke to JoAnn to get on a waiting list just in case an RV space is let go.

Try asking Jo-Ann the options. But maybe the 49er's block of non-discounted sites is all taken. Well, not completely - I just checked their online system and they show one RV site available. Expensive!

You can also try their office to ask if they indeed are 99.5% full. 209-245-6981.

What about a fairgrounds site?

Or a hotel or B&B?

sailorman, If you contacted the 49er for a site and were told there were none available it was because they have them blocked for us. All reservations need to be made thru JoAnn. She will then notify the Park with your name and space number. There are still RV sites available and anyone that wants to attend in the RV Park should check with her right away at: mvcccampmistress@yahoo.com (note the three C's)

There are also still camp sites available at the Fairgrounds.

Kurt, good news, thanks! For folks who have not reserved a site yet and to finish the thought about the proper procedure getting a RV site or cabin at the 49er Village, after JoAnn helps us find a site in our discounted block of sites and puts us on a list she gives 49er, she tells us to contact their reservation office to officially book the reservation. 49er does not assign site numbers that are in our block to anyone but the person on her list. Also, it's important to put your arrival day you tell the reservation person on your calendar. Don't arrive the day after without changing the reservation, they will consider you a no show and you risk losing the site. And don't expect the site to be open the day before. It's like a hotel.

Keep in mind JoAnn always turns un-spoken for sites in our block back to the 49er a month before the meet so they have a fair chance to rent them to others. It's our deal with them. Anybody contacting JoAnn for a site after that date will be directed to contact the reservation office. That means paying the regular rate, which could fluctuate according to how many available sites they have and how close our event week is. People could plead their case to get a decrease but it's up to the 49er how they price sites. Again, think hotel. Kurt if I am not right in any of this please sound off.

For people not familiar with our Spring and Fall events, go to www.MVCCNews.net and look at the April event page on the Events tab. Go to the Basic Training link to view all details. Then read the Daily Briefing to see what is currently planned when. And look at that again as we get close to the event to see if any changes.

Kurt, Does JoAnn have any RV spots still available, if so what are they and how can I reserve one. Thanks, C.J. Bertagna
