ham radio

Post by zuluyankee » Fri Feb 08, 2013 3:44 pm

I want to get into amateur radio for use in CERT and a prerequisite to get into the Oregon State defence force. Anyone willing to take me under thier wing? I want to get my pickup set up eventually.

Thanks

I'm working on the same goal too...
There is a ham radio operator test later this month here in Grants Pass. I think it's Feb 22nd.
I picked up a copy of the manual that includes a CD with sample test questions etc.
I've had the manual for a couple of months now, but its time to crack it open! (My brother and a couple of my friends are already hams, so I figure I have a pretty good support group if I have any problems learning everything
I'll get more details about the exam and post them up...
I'm planning on installing a ham radio in the hmmwv for a mobile emergency communications hub.

Here is what I found...

WANT TO GET YOUR HAM RADIO LICENSE? Now is the time to start studying to get your license. Grants Pass test is on February 22. How would you communicate with loved ones if your cell phones no longer worked? Do you have a communications plan? Take your test, get your license, buy your ham radio now. It's easier and cheaper than you think. Don't put this off any longer. Exam Session
