Pretty good write-up in the news letter about the convoy, by Dave Arow.

Glad you like DAVE DAVE`s article Mr Mike. I can add a few things, such as, we crossed I-80 at Soda Springs and went down Donner Summit on the old highway, what a thrill. At the Fallon NAS they let us bowl free and swim free, eat at the mess hall $5.00 for a t-bone steak dinner, breakfast for $ 2.30 and our rooms were second to none. At the rail museum the touring car in the news letter picture, they took the wheels off and put on combat rims and drove the track around the museum. At Lake Tahoe a group of day care kids had made paper flags to wave, now if that didn`t get to you nothing will !! We had a bad time in Sacramento with traffic signals and stop signs, stringing out the convoy, but the Oakland, Alameda and Frisco cops sure made up for stupid Sacramento. Sleeping on the hornet in the racks (bunks) brought back long ago memories.--------------------Mac
