Pintle hook WC-55
Hi,
I have a question about the pintle hook on my WC-55. What I have are some spaces between the pintle and the rear cross member to allow the release trigger to operate but the figure from TM 9-750A shows what appears to be a split in the lower rear cross member which allows the trigger release to operate. What am I missing? Do I not have the correct pintle hook?
Thanks,
Kendall

I believe you have a half ton pintle. I also had one that I used on my Power Wagon, I milled a slot in the crossmember to use the release.

Re: Pintle hook WC-52/55
If this is a pintle hook for a 1/2 ton, does anyone have one for a 3/4 ton they would be willing to trade or sell?
Thanks,
Kendall

Re: Pintle hook WC-55
None of my 3/4T's here have a slot in their lower braces. I would like to see someone's that has it from the factory for comparison. I have two 'styles' of Pintles originals to 3/4T. One has two line reinforcement casting lines the other two have single line castings, Here's a few for comparison.

The one I have for sale is the two line V reinforcement type. And so are the ones on my WM300 and WC63.
The V is for Victory.

Re: Pintle hook WC-55
Ok, for some further details on the "Two" types, Early and Late.
They are BOTH the same length/ throat / bolt pattern, height, width.
I measured BOTH as 3-1/4" from back base to throat back (bottom of table up to the throat) so no matter which you use the standoff is identical.
Only difference is in the casting lines on the side, and the length of the release lever SLOT (see photo)
Earlier has a shorter pull, perhaps the internal lock was redesigned to take a longer pull for releasing.
That is the ONLY difference I can see.
Now the top two bolts inserted into what appear to be an almost square nut inside the angle Iron brace VS the bottom two bolts using traditional nuts. The square nuts may have been pressed into the angle Iron with the slight ring to allow speedy assembly, but I see no weld marks like a caged nut might have.

On my WC63 the tow pintle is not mounted to the frame; it is mounted on a swivel and there is plenty of room for the release catch to operate.
