Good day
I would like to ask about the winch of my WC-52 serial number 8175...
I would like to ask, my shear pin is 1/4 in size, but according to the serial number it should be 7/16, the diameter of the rope and rope coupling is 3/8.
My question is: WC-52 serial number 8175... what is the correct diameter and length of the rope, what shear pin. I can't find out for sure anywhere.
Thanks for any reply

I"m surprised nobody that knows has answered this yet.
The only part I know is that the original cable should have been 7/16" size.
According to the VPW site, the cable would be 150 ft long, and the early 3/4 tons did have a 1/4" shear pin. I have no idea when the change to the 5/16" shear pin was made.
Good luck

Look in your SNL under winch, cable; it will tell you the serial number of the vehicle when they went from 3/8ths to 7/16ths cable.
I only have the WC63 SNL, and it's in there. The first 22,000 vehicles had 3/8ths; after that, 7/16ths. That was about Sep 43.

I'm not surprised that the one thing I thought I knew was right, was wrong. I was under the assumption that they all got 7/16 cable.

Re: Winch WC-52
Hello
Thank you for your answers. My SNL is 81755842, the shear pin is 1/4 the hole is bigger but rather pulled out. I don't know if the bronze wheel has one or two spokes on the shaft. Is there any way to see it from the outside without disassembling the side cover? The length of the 3/8 rope I read somewhere is 300 feet. It is still possible that the winches could have been replaced during general repairs. I just wanted to be clear. Thank you all very much for the answers.

Re: Winch WC-52
Greetings gentlemen
One more question, can you tell without disassembling the winch if it has a wheel with one or two spokes on the shafts? Or according to the reel number mine is 16560 and my 52 was made in 1945 but my shear pin is 1/4 and the rope is 3/8. According to the year of manufacture, there should be a 5/16 pin and a 7/16 rope. I have a 3/8 rope coupling, but they say a 7/16 rope can also fit there.
Maybe the winch was replaced or repaired, I don't know how it is right.
Thanks for the answers Pavel
