WTB: “junked” 12 volt WC regulator
SEEKING: 12 volt “junked” regulator
Body and cover.
I’m gonna try the solid state regulator route….i don’t wish to tear into my nearly new stock unit.
(I’ll use this stock unit in another project)
Anyway. I bought the solid state unit but now I need a take out non-working 12 volt regulator body and cover.
Anyone have a parts truck or pile-o-parts with this unit?
Looking for cheap.. I’ll refinish it
12 volt for a dodge 3/4 ton WC

I don't have one but is it possible to just use a 6v unit and put one of the repro 12v tags on it. Especially if you are going to rebuild it anyways.
Are they actually physically different?
Just a thought.

Re: WTB: “junked” 12 volt WC regulator
they are the same size, i converted a 6v into a 12v electronic and had a new data plate made for it.
Nice easy project compared to some of the things i have seen on other threads (including yours!)

Re: WTB: “junked” 12 volt WC regulator
Anyone know if the regulators on ww2 Jeeps are the same as the dodge regulator. In size and mounting?
Thanks

Re: WTB: “junked” 12 volt WC regulator
Here is what I did for my WC 63 which I wanted to be 12 volts. I took a jeep regulator, (yes they are the same thing), and tore the guts out of it. It was trashed anyway. I put a 1950, NOS Chrysler regulator inside of the big one; presto! 12 volts.
It does work; although the terminals are not the same positions so don't look too close, if you know the difference.

Re: WTB: “junked” 12 volt WC regulator
Hi Dave:
I have a used 6 volt Autolite military voltage regulator with its data tag rusted beyond recognition but its two drive nails are accessible from inside the cover to tap them out, remove the rusted data tag, then replace it with a nice repro 12 volt tag. It has all three 6 volt relays on the inside but they can be easily removed and replaced with your 12 volt solid state regulator. The cover has one small dent in it that is hardly noticeable. Both the cover and base needs repainting. None of the 3 large filister head screws for attaching generator wires are there, so you will have to buy them along with two small round head screws for the base ends. Price is $25.00 picked up at my house next time your in the 'hood. Or I can mail it to you in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium size box for an additional $17.05. Hope this helps you move your project along.
