My WC63 Bed
Ok, today was a red letter day since I buttoned up the floor and troop seats, after 3 solid weeks of building this thing from scratch. No pre cut wood; everything was hand made. All T&G'd like original. All I have to do now is make the storage compartment lids, which, after the sides, and troop seats, will be a piece of cake. It is 23070 paint on the wood, unlike the rest of the truck (33070), because it rains all the time here and it won't soak up water. I am not a woodworker, nor do I want to be one.

Wow. Your bed looks really nice. That is a lot of wood work for sure. Not a small task to complete I can imagine. Congrats!

Thanks; not sure about a masterpiece, but deceptively complex and hundreds of bolts and hardware, and holes. I have done Power Wagon floors before, so that wasn't bad; just the 8 big countersunk washers. Here is another pic. No I do not want to be a wood worker; then my wife will think I can do house chores like other husbands do. I will stick with metal. And engines. And guns. Ok, those have wood but a different shape. Now for the lids, and lazy backs. Which will be child's play. I already made the metal supports. and wood ones.

I should report on how I cut the arcs for the wheel guards. I took two C clamps, a short piece of wood, my router, and a 19.25 inch piece of wire. Connected the wire to the router and one C clamp. That formed a 19.25 inch radius that the router traveled in. Perfect slots the first time. Actually, I did cut a practice cut slightly smaller to prove it out. Not being a wood worker has it advantages; no preconceived ways to do things

Great job! I did the same thing for my 45 WC52. I have skill, but not a woodworker, so I know so much work goes into it. I also tried out the arches on some scrap before attempting the real cuts. Except for the bed strips (from Midwest) and Tnuts, I have all the original hardware with the help from a WC52 and WC51 parts trucks. Again, great work.....

Thanks; I just had two wheel guards that were good. Even the rear bed panels ware gone.
Working on the lazy back boards today; temp is only 82 but humidity is 100% so it is very sticky. All the corn raises the humidity. There are only about 10 days of really good weather per year here....too late now....
The fun part about this is that no board is less than ten feet long!
