Dodge 3/4 tranny

Post by lester4238 » Sat Aug 28, 2021 8:31 pm

I saved a 3/4 Dodge tranny from the scrap yard a while back. Inside looks good but the stick shift turns 360 degrees. How do you remove the stick shift to see what kind of damage is there? The underside of the shift plate shows no damage. Also did I waste my money saving it? Right now it is just another boat anchor in my storage.

This is from the Vintage Power Wagons manual:
Dodge WC Transmission.JPG
Dodge WC Transmission
There is a plug on the side that releases the transmission stick. If the gears are good and not rusted, it's a good save. Getting more difficult to find good gears. I always find the gears rusted with no oil it seems.

I'm sure you can find someone that would be interested. Not sure where in the world you are.

The transmission gears are rust free and in good shape. How hard is it to pull the plug? Oh, and I'm way out here in Idaho.

Never scrap these old parts; they aren't making them any more. Boat anchor to you; valuable item to someone out there.

I never do scrap any military items. To much respect for my Fathers generation to do that. To poor to save as much as I can, but I do what I can when I can. I just saved a USMC Jerry can from WWII from the scrap yard. Left a galvanized can there due to to many large dents. I think it was dated 42. I have also salvaged G506 and CCKW's from the scrap yard. The tranny I would sell some day. I just want to fined out what is wrong with the ship plate before I do. I like to let the buyer know everything about anything I sell.
