When l pulled the motor from the chassis the plate fell off so obviously the plate cut out is big enough to clear the pulley.
It was when l tried to replace it l found l could not.
And that was with the motor on a stand.
I tried all ways to mount that plate and rubber mount
But failed mainly due to not having an 1 7/8 socket handy to pull the crank pulley.
From memory l just could not get the top rubber mount studs. Into position.
Gave up an run the gauntlet of finding an 1 7/8 socket
Which even doing that wasn't an easy task.
They all had 1 3/4 or 2" nothing inbetween !!!
Once the pulley was off easy !!!

Did you have the rubber mount bolted onto the top or bottom plates? Look at my picture and you see I have it bolted to the top. I think the angle of it would not work if bolted to the bottom, mount bracket.

It was bolted to the bottom plate.
If l bolted it to the top one first how would you gain access to the studs to install the two lower nuts to the plate??
Those studs are hidden behind the lower plate??
You can just about get to the drivers side lower stud.
But totally impossible for the pass side as it sits on top of the timing cover!!!
That crank pulley has to be taken off period!!
