Im aligning the hood to the body and radiator shell/support on my Command Car.
The hood slopes downwards a bit from the cowl to the nose cap. It actually contacts the top of the air cleaner.
Ive combed through my 1942 Master Parts List, and have yet to find anything about shims. It seems that some U shaped shims similar to fender shims on 60s and 70s cars around the two bolts that hold the radiator frame to the body would do the trick.
Has anyone come across shims in this location?

I have used washers. I haven't seen shims like you mention on the cowls before, but I have a lot of the U shaped shims like you mention from parting out a lot of old Chevy's back in the day. I have lots of the thicker U shims for use when I aligned the old Chevy's at the upper A arm. Good times...mdainsd wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 1:23 pmIm aligning the hood to the body and radiator shell/support on my Command Car.

Ah yeah, Exactly what I had in mind, the upper A arm shims from GM. There should be plenty of those around, I would think..
