Windshield latch question wc40

Post by Finn42 » Sat Sep 01, 2018 9:54 am

Hi
Another question for the experts, thank you in advance.
On a wc closed cab, a wc40 in this case, does the windshield latch with the elaborate mechanism regulator or the pull ring? Asking because I found a regulator type in my wc40. I have no idea how the pull type even works. Does it have some kind of base plate mounted to the dash and how does the ring mount to the windshield. Or is the regulator style correct? A bit confused here. There are 4 holes and the slit opening in the dash near the window. There’s really nothing on the frame itself.

Do you have the adjusting arms on each side of the cab pillar? Sounds like you have a civilian WS frame to me. The pull ring locks the wildshield. Regulator type (crank out) windshields weee not Installed in any T-207, T-211 or T-215 military trucks. You sure your cab is a military cab and not a modified civi cab?

How about posting some photos of the cab’s interior and exterior?

Yes it has the adjusting arms. Maybe someone did an upgrade with the mechanism? I can’t get pics because the day I bought it, I also went on vacation. Was a Crazy day!!!!
If it should have a pull, how does that thing work? Is there a catch plate? I see the pull mechanism on the parts sites but nothing else.
Like is said I have the the rectangular hole for the civilian mechanism top of the dash but with 4 small holes for screws (I’m guessing) fore and aft. I looked all over the internet for pics. Nothing displayed.

On a military cab there is a slot for the pull catch to latch into right in the center of the dash, next to the windshield

Thanks Ernie. That makes sense and is good news. How does the pull attach to the windshield frame?

There is a threaded stud on the windshield. right on the bottom, dead center , The pull latch slides onto that then you have a speing and a nut that holds it on

So, I looks like someone as added a civilian windshield at one time. bummer. Dash has the slot for the catch but the windshield does not have the insert hole for the pull. Has anyone tried to convert one and make an insert? Im guessing the odds of finding a clean military one is going to be slim. I found inserts. If someone could send me a good pic of their insert area that would be super appreciated.
