found a WC22 or is it a WC40?
Hello
I found a WC today. It was restored years ago and the price is high. The owner has passed away and I am forced to do all the detective work to see if she is worth it. The frame has a working Braden winch and I cannot seem to tell if the horns were lengthened for it. The data plate is a repop and is wrong. The cab is a closed type like a WC12. It has the military gauges. It is either a WC40 or WC22 frame with a closed cab on top. Any help appreciated. Not sure if I should post the serial number on the frame. The engine is a post war 230.

The serial number should help identify it.

Working on pics. The serial number in all my books says either wc22 or 40. Wonder why it’s vague?

WC40 did not have a winch

One question to all, if it is indeed a closed cab on and open cab frame, what does that do to the value?

it does lower it to a collector that wants to restore it back to original

Thanks Ernie. That’s about what I thought. Tom is working on the frame number. Why does everyone insist on having a winch. Amazing the lengths they will go to.

The only sure way to find out what you have is to have the owners family send a copy of the certificate of title to FCA and they will send them a copy of the build card for the serial number listed. What’s the big secret about not posting the serial number on this site?

Hi dozerman thanks for the reply. I just felt weird about posting the number without the family’s knowing. I guess it doesn’t matter since only Chrysler knows the answer. I thought that there were number ranges for each model but looks like not! Have to roll the dice in this purchase.
