Hello,

Wow Zeph !!
What a fantastic journey this has been with this Carryall !!
A job well done !!!

Absolutely beautiful, and a great new dog also 😁😁😁

Incredible really, and we have all enjoyed your achievement !!!

Now, since I can't have too many projects on the agenda, I too just bought a 1/2 ton Carryall starter kit 😁
WC-26, just a nice body so far, and will add the fenders and some other parts to the purchase. I need to find a chopped Carryall with frame and running gear to add a good body to, and have myself a similar Carryall journey.

Best Regards to You,
Outstanding !!!!
Ray

PS- I am a Brigadier General now 😁😁😁😁😁
Hi BG Ray, :)

Thank you. Yes, lots of elbow grease and sweat under the bridge on this one.

Nice on the WC26 project score. I have a lot of extra interior window trim parts for the Carryalls if you need anything. They are intensive on parts vs. the half-ton open cab Dodge WC's I'm used to working on.

I couldn't help but notice that the DCPD bolt logos are not lined up exactly...

Just kidding, the carry-all looks great! It is amazing what a change it makes getting the seats into a restoration, really starts to look like a vehicle and not a project.
You have a good eye Mark. lol

Those darn bolts are hard to line up!

Thanks. It really did make a significant difference now that the seats are in.

I had one more finishing touch. I sanded up and painted the map table yesterday afternoon. Today I installed it and then added some common sense fasteners to it to hold my sunglass/cell phone holder I made outta canvas. If I get tired of it I can always add wood filler and patch the holes like they were never there:

A little modern convenience for the old girl...if I can call it that...

I get the map tables from Midwest Military. They are perfect with no chips from the saw cut and really nice. I sanded this one with my Scotch-Brite pad and rattle canned it with TM9 33070. First time I have used the rattle can TM9. I used to primer the wood, but I don't think it helps. I seem to have better luck with OD applied directly to the wood. I'll see how this one holds up.

Made the maiden voyage with the Carryall today. Nice and cool. Only 93 degrees today. Next week showing over 110 degrees and 115 on Friday. Good times. lol

Anyway. I painted the bottom of the jump seat, but now not liking the unfinished look of the canvas and batting. Didn't really think through the bottom of the jump seat. Thinking about adding some trim to hide the canvas edges. Geez, probably over thinking the whole thing...again... :?

Also shot a video of the first drive. Took forever to upload. I can't watch it due to our lack of internet speed, but hoping it made it. That's one thing I'm going to miss about work. At least I could watch videos there at lunch time. At home it's a no go. Still waiting for my Starlink!!! Come on Elon!:

Yet another great restoration and addition to your fleet; thanks again for taking the time to share it on here. The only problem with the video was I couldn’t see if you were towing the bomb trailer :D

So what’s next in line for restoration as this one comes to a completion?

PS. I see your newest family member (Alice) getting her (probably?) first MV ride?

Hello Zeph,

What a great achievement !!!!
Video was very good, and the Carryall sounds and looks beautiful !!
Thanks to you, another piece of our history has been saved :D :D :D
We have all been riding along as you have been restoring this Dodge, and it has been very rewarding to watch.
Please post your next project here on the G as well !!

I will certainly take you up on the window parts offer, once I get the Carryall back here, I will have an idea of what is there, and what is missing. Thank you !!

It seems just like yesterday, you started this project :D :D

Best Regards
Ray

Thank you Gordon! Talk about something stealing your heart. She's a cutie. Ralph's a little bummed that he's not the baby anymore, but he's coming round.

Zeph,
A suggestion on the jump seat bottom. If you can find something that looks like the tarred cardboard that is placed under the dash.(sorry do not know what it's called),you could cut a piece full dimension and hide everything. Maybe some thin masonite painted flat black. I think it would look period.

Yes, she had her first MV ride yesterday. Next project will be the Dodge VC1. Hoping to get it into the resto position in the shop this week. However, already busier than ever in retirement, so that may not happen. 8)

Thanks Ray. I appreciate the kind words! Yes, lots of window interior trim parts. I also saved some window boxes for parts if anyone needed the sections that the plates screw onto. Lots of regulator parts too.

Feels like this project took quite a while, but it sure feels good to basically have it completed now. Seemed to shift well. Only thing I noticed is that it seemed like I couldn't rev the engine up really high before upshifting. I'll have to figure out a way to hold the throttle pedal down so I can check to see if there is full throttle at the carburetor. I had to make a number of linkage pieces for it, so that may be an issue. Made the same for the Command Car and it seems fine. If that's the only issue, that's a great thing... 8)

Hi Bob,

Hmmmm....that's a great idea as I do have some Masonite left over from the roof project. That would finish it off nicely I think. It just still doesn't look right, so that's a good plan. Thanks!

Hello Zeph,

Looking forward to seeing the next project, an early super rare one at that !!

I noticed in the video that the grass out there was brown, and super dry already .

Have you made any evac plans for your vehicles, in the event of the fires in California that pop up in the summer ?
Is there any fire proof , concrete warehouse building nearby that you could get them all inside just in case ?

Best Regards,
Ray
