This is the last variation of Oakes filter used during the war. It is not early by any stretch of imagination.

It might be the mid war one. I can’t tell if the embossed words are on a separate plate. Either way that entire description is garbage.

The instructions are on a separate plate. You can see the undulations along the edges (because of rust underneath?).

Hi,

You can clearly see the instructions are on a separate plate.

That makes it a mid to late ‘42 filter assembly.

After that the instructions were embossed directly into the casing.

We have the plate type on our Dec ‘42 MB and the stamped type on our Aug ‘44 MB.

This particular seller breaks ex-Australian jeeps and is usually “optimistic” on pricing too!!!
