Problems with Virtual Restorations (seller)

Post by Michael O. » Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:23 am

I have had two bad transactions with Patrick Van Tine and Jess Gandy who run a business called “Virtual Restorations” out of New Paltz, NY in recent months. Long story short, I received two separate items that I purchased that were in different condition from what I ordered. One item returned a month ago (still waiting for the exact NOS Douglas push-pull light switch I purchased) and on the other I’m awaiting on a promised refund before I send it back since shipping was pricey and it was in vastly different condition than described (GPW radiator).

Has anyone else had problems with these guys? They advertise a lot of parts and vehicles and they looked like a promising source for parts I need. Too bad really for them…as I would have spent several thousands of dollars with them on parts.

If you remember there were lots of problems with Van Tine 3-4 years ago for much the same reasons.

Van Tine's G503 name was 58chevybiscayne. You can do a search on that.

I personally have not. But I’m smart enough to not have dealt with him. I post because a friend of mine has had issues with him & I don’t think Andrew is here, just on FB.

Hello, I'm fairly new to working with WW2 jeeps. I purchased a 45 MB about year go. So I have been purchasing parts to bring it as close to original as possible. I also very much appreciate Scott's Team 503 videos. They are very informative and fun to watch. Love his opening jokes. :)

I too have had two bad transactions with Patrick Van Tine and Jess Gandy who run a business called “Virtual Restorations” out of New Paltz, NY. Initially I purchased a 2 bolt spare tire mount and the foot bracket. I paid a bit more because Jess said it came with the original mounting hardware. Well, he didn't send the original mounting hardware. I contacted him, he said he forgot to put it in the package and had them in the bag and would send them. So next I purchased 2 dash NOS switches from them, I indicated that they could add the mounting hardware to the switch shipment. Well, the switches came, no mounting hardware. prior to shipping I ask them if they had done a continuity test on the switches, Jess said yes. A couple of weeks after receiving the switches I tested before installation and one of them didn't work. I immediately contacted Jess and let him know I was going to return it and was still waiting on the mounting hardware. After that things went silent, lots of messages to him, no response. Finally I ask if they were still in business, that got a response. But, after that nothing. My next step will be a complaint to their local Better Business Bureau. In the future I'll stick with the reputable parts dealers like RFJP.
