Hi,warbirdphotog wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 4:29 pmI used a foam flat round brush for mine. Like this. This is from when I was painting something else, but I lightly put the orange paint on it, then stamped it a few times in the plate, then carefully pressed down to just get the raised edge of the lettering. Worked really well!
Can you advise me what was the brand of the Acrylic black paint you used illustrated in your picture on the the battery case please.
Many thanks
Best regards
John

Re: Willard Battery Cover
Just a quick up date, I've managed to get just over 100 of these made and sent out! I really appreciate the support of this project. If you've reached out and I put you on the list and i haven't gotten to you, i will. Just some "life stuff" came up and slowed me down a bit. I'll get started back up on them again soon.
Thanks again
Thanks again

Re: Willard Battery Cover
Does anyone have an idea where to get the "international orange" to do this battery case the colors it deserves?

Will acrylic paint hold up after getting hit with engine oil when I accidentally start the motor with the line unhooked? It really jets out of there on my GPW. Don't ask how I know...zepher11 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 12:18 pmI think I sourced mine from eBay:

One needs to throw themselves between the stream of oil and battery box to save the day. We all have to make sacrifices.John Neuenburg wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 4:34 pm

Re: Willard Battery Cover
What are you guys using to seal the top covers? I have significant gaps between the top and the top rim of the case. I used some roofing tar type caulk but it looks terrible. I also had to elongate the terminal holes in order for the top to fit over the Optima battery terminals, so the top isn't precisely seated "sqaured"...hence the gaps along side. I had to shave off a little of the resin material on the opposite side in order for the top to fit.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Willard Battery Cover
I used some automotive black silicon. I had to trim here and there to thin the lid gaps and get the lid to fit better. It looks pretty good. Way better than the old six volt battery I had in there. It's not a show GPW, so I really didn't spend a lot of time on making it look perfect:Michael O. wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 6:19 pmWhat are you guys using to seal the top covers? That’s what I did as well. It’s not perfect, but I like it.

Is the consensus that the Willard logos were painted on military applications?
