For Sale: 42 Script GPW with original engine

For sale 1942 Script GPW; professionally rebuilt original matching engine, rebuilt transmission and transfer case; 5 combat rims, new top bows, new “F” rear seat, new wiring harness, new brakes, restored correct small mouth gas tank; rebuilt correct 539s carburetor, new WeeBee

canvas seat cushions, original “F” front seats. all correct engine compartment, original tombstone blackout light, correct below dash filterette, original green Sheller steering wheel. The floor of one tool locker has rust out (I have replacement floor), side panel by gas tank has some rust out (I have replacement panel), front floor is worn thin in spots.
I have clear title. I’m willing to deliver within 150 miles of New York city for costs. Big ticket items are done. The body is in solid condition, but needs some work to finish. $23,000 OBO. John, Long Island N.Y.

Serial number 60019, frame and engine. No data tags when I got it. I bought it from WW2 vet's family. I'm the second owner after govt.

Not original body to the frame and engine? Otherwise it’s quite an interesting GPW as I was always told script GPW production ended at around number 49xxx.

This IS the original frame and body. Body was NEVER removed from the frame. This jeep may be the latest existing script GPW. Tom, the GPW Whisperer has told me this jeep is from August 1942. I don't remember the exact date. He confirmed it with his studies at the Ford Archives.

That’s quite special John. Must be one of the very last scripts. Maybe they found a leftover script body and used it

Does anyone know the exact story of these last scripts? What plant they were made and all?

I also wish my May ‘42 script had its original engine.

It would appear 60,000 is too late for a script GPW.

According to the GPW Restoration Standards, which includes Tom W.'s comments, July was the intended time frame to drop the script FORD but it is documented as far out as Oct. 42 because back logged bodies would be used up.

There is no reference if this pertained to a specific Branch Assembly plant or was a random occurrence.

In short, there are exceptions to the rule and this appears to be one of them.
