Re: Wrench identification
That is an odd-looking Federal Stock Number on that French wrench at the top. I can't find it or anything like it, even if I drop the "0".
The bottom wrench was made by J.H. Williams for B.G. Corporation. B.G. spark plugs were a leading brand for aircraft spark plugs in the early days of aviation up through WWII. They had dozens of contracts with the US Army Air Corps and Navy worth $26M. They were very unusual. I am sure you've seen them. Instead of the insulated body being made of porcelain, they used stacked washers made of mica, which were sanded and polished to a taper. Combined with the whorl of the natural stone, they were quite beautiful.
Secondly, they were not throw-away. They were designed to be disassembled and serviced.
The wrench looks like wartime to me.
A good link for further reading about B.G. Corp is here.
