Galvanized Toolbox... what is it.

Post by Craig Johnson » Mon Nov 08, 2021 7:50 pm

I see these occasionally online. Picked this one up for $25.

I'm going to use it on my 1940 3/4 ton trailer. Toolbox has a matching date and fits perfectly. It misses the hooks and opens fully. Just curious what it's intended use is for when I'm asked about it.

Cool. That will work. Now that you said that it does remind me of all the galvanized cooking utensils. Didn't want to put a diamond plate made in China box on it.

Thanks Robin.

These are great boxes - Really heavy duty.

Which is why I purchased this one in the early 90's, thinking that it would make a good jeep tool box for all those BB's

Back then I had no idea of it's intended use, or that the tote tray was indeed a nice little ' extra ' made from the same thickness galvanised sheet metal.

From memory the surplus dealer who had a very large stall, much of it was miscellaneous USAF surplus, at the annual August Bank Holiday Stoneleigh Festival of Transport also had another similar one.
