2021 finds

Post by Silly's MB » Wed Jul 28, 2021 3:03 am

I have been a bit too busy to get out recently but on Sunday I escaped.
I found a very nice M5 tool box in its original finish.
Some V8 Ford gaskets from 1934 to 48
A big box of US spanners out of some NATO stores with a very nice Duro-chrome 2016. :D
A few shorty DBE of the correct size for GMTK and lots of 3/4 x 11/16" Barcalo with only one 3/4 x 5/8" Fairalloy 727 SP. I can only imagine they must have had very few of the correct 3/4 x 5/8 during the war.

That's a great find Roger, with that bonus 2016 - A ' Circle X ' I assume ?

I spy some other large BB's long DBE's as well - Can you post some more photos :?:

The Barcalo 3/8'' X 7/16'', 1/2'' X 9/16'', and 5/8'' X 11/16'' were all available in the 1937 - 1940 - 1943 listings in a variety of finishes. However I have never found a Barcalo #6134 5/8'' X 3/4'' here in the UK :?:

But I have found Bluepoint, Bonney, & Fairmount 5/8'' X 3/4'' versions here in the UK - A puzzle :?

For what it's worth, my own thoughts are the Barcalo # 6134 did not appear to be listed until the May 1st 1943 - Therefore might not have reached the UK in large enough numbers to be left here before the invasion - Hence their rarity all these years later here in UK, rather than overseas.

Len, I will clean them up and take a few more pics, lots that are not correct for a gmtk though.

In the meantime here are some pics from my Grand Father in Laws time in Palestine circa 1936/37, he was a driver mechanic for the 8th Hussars driving Ford V8 1936 -(I Think) during the Arab uprising. The damaged one went over a landmine.

I thought this was the best topic in which to post my latest acquisition, so I hope you don't mind me adding to your post Roger.
I finally acquired here in the UK, a 41-H-1500 Owatonna 1/2 inch Flex Head Handle for my GMTK. It was listed on "the" auction site by someone who had done his homework and knew that it was a GMTK tool. I don't think they appear over here very often. This example has been stamped "K M" by a previous owner. I'll add it to my other flex heads that all have 1/2 inch diameter holes for the 41-B-155 Cross Bar:

Nice one, Cliff. I think that those are the favorites of most GMTK collectors.
