Air raid siren?

Post by bryanbdp » Sun May 02, 2021 1:33 pm

I just purchased what seems to be an air raid siren. It is astonishingly loud. It is 120 volts, but I don't know if there's a transformer on the box it's attached to. Had to have it, paid $80 for it.
Can anyone identify it? What's it worth?
Thanks
Bryan

The plate is painted over. I'll probably try stripping the paint off at some point.
But not right now. I have it stashed in my step son's closet with a timer set for tomorrow morning...

I think it's a Federal from the 1950's. I had one once. Sold it to another member of our Civil Defense reenacting group. Mine didn't have any kind of box or transformer under it. Just a cast base you could bolt down. We used a few years at the Reading Air Show.
