For what its worth, I'm not convinced that the TE-6 chest shown above would even close with that vise sitting where it is...
If you search that famous auction site for a stanley 5215 vise, there are a couple that also seem to match, right down to the hardy hole (??).

Re: Need Fed Spec Help
Can anyone post the description of Class B and Class C vises (probably from Fed. Spec. GGG-V-436a):
41-V-203 VISE, Combination Pipe, Type IV, Stationary Jaw and swivel base, Jaws 4-1/2" wide, Pipe cap. 1/8" to 3-1/2"
41-V-280 VISE, Machinists Bench, Stationary Jaw & Swivel Base, Type VII, Class B, Jaws 6" Wide
41-V-297 VISE, Machinists Bench Vise, Type VII, Class B, Swivel Jaw and Swivel Base, Jaws 6" x 9" opening
41-V-300 VISE, Machinists Bench Vise, Type VII, Cl C, Swivel Jaw and Swivel Base, Jaws 6" x 9" opening
Other than bold text for Class B or C, the descriptions above are copied verbatim from the wartime Custody Record Cards (AKA hand-receipts in Army terms), on the USS North Carolina. From the Fed. Spec. extract on the previous page, Type IV is a combination pipe vise and Type VII is a machinists vise.
The 41-V-203 and 41-V-300 vise types were in the USS North Carolina's machine shop during the war (per Custody Record Cards); the 41-V-280 and 41-V-297 vise types were in different (unknown) parts of the ship's Engineering Division (the machine shop was part of Engineering). I'm wondering what's the distinction between Class B and Class C vises. Unfortunately, the Custody Record Cards do not provide manufacturer/model number for the vises, only the info I copied above.
Currently, there's only one Morgan 360 (6" jaws, swivel jaws & swivel base) mounted in the machine shop, based on available vises AND aligning the swivel base with original WW2 holes in the workbench. The (empty) holes on the workbench would probably fit two 41-V-203 vises; they are too close together for the 41-V-300 (6"). Making new holes in the workbench is not an option.
Thanks in advance!
