Gordon,Gordon_M wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 10:51 amDon, I remember looking up the manufacturer of the CI code Craftsman long C wrenches on Alloy Artifacts and seeing them attributed to Billings & Spencer. Well down this page, under Box End Wrenches I think:
http://alloy-artifacts.org/craftsman-ea ... ls-p2.html
Does that sound right / wrong or whatever?
I have some CI wrenches and I haven’t formed any conclusions about who made them. I never take Alloy Artifacts conclusions as gospel. It would be nice if they would make the catalogs they refer to available to everyone.

Thanks Don. Some of the CI wrenches I have here the CI is stamped in, and some forged on, and the appearance and finish is quite different.

Some more shots after cleanup.
A nice bunch of Snap-On sockets. A couple of the 1/2" drive look to be brand new!
The 3/4" deep is 3/8" drive and the 13/32" and 5/16" deep are 9/32" drive and ended up being 1931 dated but they sure looked the part when I picked them up.
Plomb 1" socket is 3/4" drive. WF-56 looks good, but ended up showing a few cracks. SK 1-1/8" and a deuce of Williams 13/16"
Plomb 1/2" drive extension and 1/2" combination wrench.
But, the find of the day was the Utica No 7-C pliers! The flying V pliers are a bit of an oddball being Chrome plated.

Re: mudbox's flea finds
Almost forgot about this cool box and its contents.
I picked up this old Armstrong box thinking 'wow, that's pretty neat'. It had a bunch of 3/8" drive universal joints in there. I was going to put it back down when I noticed that each joint was marked 'HI-TENSILE'. So, they followed me home!
Top of the box is marked 1 DOZ and F-140
There were still 6 of them in the box.

Found this pair of Plomb WF8-S 1/4" drive ratchets and what I think is a WW2 era USMC tie clip.

Re: mudbox's flea finds
That's a really good find Jason.
I see them on that auction site now and again, and whereas some are undoubtedly genuine WF-8S, some look like vanilla WF-8 that have been tinkered with. I'm assuming you got that pair at the right price, rather than from someone looking to retire on the proceeds.

Thanks Gordon. You got that right, I wouldn't have picked them up if the price wasn't right. Not as nice I would have hoped, but way better than the auction house prices.

Re: mudbox's flea finds
Found a few interesting items this past weekend.
The Type A-5 inspection light is pretty cool. Looks clean inside. The bulb is burnt out, so I have a few more on order. Dated 1943.
The Shovel is an Ames and both it and the cover are dated 1944.
American Lock Co. U.S. stamped padlock with original key.
Box of Schrader valve cores
The 5 gallon drum is marked Property Air Force U.S.A. Wheeling Can 1942. Pretty neat.
Not pictured is an "Eagle" 4in oiler with a fair bit of O.D. paint left.

Re: mudbox's flea finds
I have one of those 5 gallon USAAF cans, but mine isn't as nice as yours.

Re: mudbox's flea finds
Thanks Matt. Those 5 Gallon USAAF cans don't seem to turn up very often.
I found a couple of nice things at the flea today.
The SAMCO fuel can is one I don't have. Dated 1943, it has everything stamped at the top like a water can, but it's for sure a fuel can.
The Coleman GI stove is dated 1946, was full of fuel and fired right up when I got it home.
A pair of Boker slip joints and Utica long nose pliers round out the bunch. The Utica has the bonus USA martial mark. WIN.

Re: mudbox's flea finds
That's a nice Barcalo 41-W-605 DBE wrench, Jason.
I found these at a Berkeley estate sale yesterday. I was happy to find these rust free, undented Gem oilers even though the spouts are incorrect. Can anybody ID the sliding square attachments manufacturer? I’m thinking maybe Miller’s Falls

Re: mudbox's flea finds
Sorry Don, for the late response, but I'm not sure I can help on the sliding square. I have one similar in green emanuel, but it's branded Mitutoya.
I haven't made it out to the flea in a few months it seems. Last Saturday was actually warm and I got a brief parole from the family to go flea hunting. I ended up with a few gems.
The 3/4" drive extension is Walden and has an electric pencil U.S. martial mark
3/8" drive long Craftsman BE extension
Midget Stanley screwdriver but the clip has broken off...
nice dark japanned FairmouT 731A sharp
1945 dated U.S.N. whistle
1945 dated Danielson adjustable and a Barcalo adjustable
Date code is obscured, but the massive 1-1/8" Bonney combo smacks of wartime with the dusty phosphate finish.
Happy New Years guys!
