Re: Electricians Tool Set Restoration
It would not be fun to push it through. Inside diameter of 1/2" emt is .662 and rigid is .632 so a .250 tape with that ring would hang up on bends. We had 1/4 inch fish tapes but used them on bigger pipes and longer runs. I still think it is a legit fish tape from that era. Looks good in the tool chest also.

JAB,
Exactly like that! Although the the end is broken off on mine and I think it's narrower 1/8 or 3/16".

Re: Electricians Tool Set Restoration
I found this 31 JAN '44 QUARTERMASTER SUPPLY CATALOG at the flea today and it turned out to have the Electrician's Set specs. Looks like Jeff (JAB) has the correct wire puller. All I had to go on when I put the set together was the list included on the inside of the chest lid but this catalog included some useful drawings of the contents. Looks like I did pretty well but I'll have to find a correct wire puller and a better flashlight. The oiler isn't what I expected and I may trade out my alcohol torch (though it is included in other sets in the catalog).

NICE score, Phil! That's got to be a tremendous resource....
For anyone who's interested, Portrayal Press has reprints available ($21.99, but shipping is free); usual disclaimers apply.

Been a while since anybody updated flea finds threads on here, I kinda miss it. My digital camera has been on the fritz, which has slowed my posting down....haven't gotten much that's WW2 period, today being an exception to that.

Hi Steve!
I'm still hitting the flea every weekend though it has slowed down with the colder weather. I just don't have the time to post my finds like I used to. I do enjoy seeing every one else's finds though.
Don't leave us hanging. What did you find?

Nothing TOO sexy 10" Barcalo adjustable, in black oxide. I did a slow purchase on it, sending pics to Don and coming back a month later for the purchase. Guess I need to make a shaggy dog story out of it on my 2018 tool hunting thread, before 2019 hits....

Nice! I’m surprised Don didn’t convince you to send it to him.

Re: Electricians Tool Set Restoration
That is gold. Could you e-mail me pg 16 and 17 ? I am amazed how much that is to what I started with in 1978 compared to what I am using now 40 years later.

Re: Electricians Tool Set Restoration
Phil what a great find, congratulations !
Looks like item 19 is one of those tote bags again ? ' Kit, Tool Canvas M-1921 ( empty ) ' - which is also included in the ' Blacksmiths Set No 1 '.
Yes Portrayal Press still have a similar reprint listed on line - but apparently it is out of stock
I ordered a copy way back in September, and I have been told by Patrick it could be the end of January at the earliest before it's available again
I would like to see if the ' Blacksmiths Set No 1' is listed, Don has kindly sent me the ' Blacksmiths Set No 2 ' contents list.
So anyone else waiting for their holy grail ?

Re: Electricians Tool Set Restoration
Phil thanks for looking, shame it is not listed - but I am not surprised - just my luck or lack of it
I assume by the date of your catalogue Blacksmith Sets were not needed, and that the military just relied on those Sets already in Service. It would be nice to see if they were listed in earlier publications ? Sorry if this wandering off topic.

I made the difficult decision of replacing my Heller hammer with a US stamped Plumb but I'll have to admit I prefer the been there done that look of the Heller.
