Re: Wartime 1/4" drive socket sets
... that's why I snapped it up - I don't need it for the kit. Any of the oddball stuff that is BE-coded attracts my attention.

Even though I wasn’t looking for them, I couldn’t help grabbing this Plomb box and ratchet on eBay because the price was so low. I added a few other recent finds.

Anything the right price and in good condition. The amber handle looks good too.

Re: Wartime 1/4" drive socket sets
This empty box arrived yesterday. I think it may take a while to complete.

Re: Wartime 1/4" drive socket sets
This rusty Plomb partial set arrived a couple of days ago. Even though this exact box isn’t shown in the catalogs, I believe it was used in 1945. I de-rusted, straightened, sanded and repainted it. I added a few parts from another set to see how close to complete it could be. It looks like I need a couple of 5/16” hex sockets.

You know all these boxes Don, but I always thought "Los Angeles" branding was early, and "USA" late?

Re: Wartime 1/4" drive socket sets
I found a set with all of the tools and the same box back in 2018. I suspect that Plomb ran out of the embossed boxes and may have just included a label on the inside like they did on the postwar sets.

New Britain set. Any suggestions on how to remove the oxidation from the spinner?

Re: Wartime 1/4" drive socket sets
I received this partial D-I 1/4” drive set in a trade and added the missing sockets and probably too many drive tools. I installed a handle on the bare spinner shaft.

Re: Wartime 1/4" drive socket sets
I received this FSN marked Walden set from an eBay seller yesterday. It came with a complete matching socket set, all with detent ball holes. All of the sockets and drive tools look virtually unused. The FSN stenciled box is otherwise unpainted and has 5 hinge elements.

Re: Wartime 1/4" drive socket sets
I found this partial large S-K 1/4” drive cad plated set on eBay recently. It’s missing a couple sockets, a short unmarked extension and a ratchet which is on the way. The missing cad plated 7/32” socket is a hard one to find.
