I wonder if AutoZone or a different store will do it.
Nope, those guys are useless. I'm talking about an actual automotive paint supply place. Where the body shop would go to get paint. I called a few places in your area. They're not cheap, but FinishMaster in Jersey City will do it for you. But it's not cheap. They quoted like $40 a can... There might be some other place local to you that would be more reasonable.

They'll need a clean flat area at least 2in x 2in to put the camera on. I might be able to take my Hamilton box up to the place that's local to me and get the paint code for you. Let me know if you're interested. That box has the yellow green color to it.

I have plenty of examples to choose from, but that sounds a little more expensive and a little more complicated than I would like. I'll hunt around for a closer more affordable option. Thanks.

These photos are from an eBay listing. The seller is obviously not the world’s best photographer but you can get the idea. Other than the FSN the wrench is unmarked.

I picked up this oddball wrench around twenty five years ago simply because it had a FSN. ' LV6 / MT2 / NA - 41 - W - 639 - 508 '

Single 9/16'' six point opening with an offset handle, and an unknown forge marking on the reverse.

Can anyone out there identify it, and it's application :?:

Thanks Len

Would you post a better (close-up) shot of the forge mark, Len?

It's in the March 1945 ORD 5 SNL J-4. That Ordnance Supply Catalog is all-encompassing and does not provide applications, unfortunately, or figures. The Ordnance drawing number may help with searches. And note that they gnat's assed the opening a little finer than your measurement. :)

Verbatim entry

"41-W-639-508 | A250416 | WRENCH, box, single end, hex. opening, ordnance design, opening 0.57 in. (37/64 in.)"

Greg many thanks for your help, I think you have nailed it :D

So today here it is again - Take two

The forge mark appears to be a capital ' S ' within a broken circle - Cannot make out the symbol at the foot of the ' S ' if that's what it is :?:
Alongside is a ' 1 '.

You were spot on with the size of 37/64 '' too.

I don't recall seeing the "LV6 / MT2" designation before on a tool. Curious about that, I did some searches and they all result in Australian equipment, including this list for the Austin Champ, linked here. Could it be a Lend Lease piece?

A TAFX2A brass armorer's hammer came my way via a UK auction site. Having missed out on some others I was pleased to see it as no mention was made of the Ordnance "TAXI" number on the "copper" head.

It looks similar to another one mentioned a while ago on this thread by Steve alias "gpw_42". As luck would have it, I am able to compare it with an unmarked one found in the bottom of a box at an antiques fair in Suffolk UK and which I bought for £1.50. Looks to me like they are from different manufacturers having different head profiles. I suspect that Steve's example was not as beat-up as first thought, but similar to my "TAXI" marked example. I've attached a photo comparing them in size to a 4oz Fairmount ball-pein, which also appears in the Armorer's toolkit as TAAX1A? Also found another photo from the Utah Gun Collectors Association (ugca.org) showing the familiar US Ordnance bomb & flame motif on the handle. Thought it maybe useful to repost a couple of pages from the 1942 Armorer's toolkit originally posted by David:

Update current as of today. Apparently I can no longer edit the initial post. This includes many updates gathered over the last year or more, but it is certainly NOT all-inclusive.

Double click each attachment to read it clearly. If anyone needs the file this pics are based on (which includes links to photos of about 98% of the tools), please PM me with your email and I'll send a .pdf.

Here are pictures of the Childcraft wrench recently found by a collector in South Dakota.

Anyone care to take a guess as to the Brand on this wrench?

Good guess. But no.
Though Cornwell did use that hex throated design as well.
Care to hazard another guess?

Cornwell was my first guess, as well. But I'll guess Mac, given what's above.

Ding ding ding.
Good guess. I would have expected to see Wright guessed as well.
I'm not really sure if MAC was making these or sourcing them from Cornwell or Wright. These 'neighbors' were all using the same design on wrenches at the time.

Marked only MAC and missing the Sabina O.
