Roll Bits and Files Carpenters and Wheelwrights
Hi,
Looking for a clear picture of the contents list for this tool roll. As you can see, mine is faded. The contents are listed in the QM catalog for the kits this would have been part of (e.g. Carpenters Kit #1) but the pockets are numbered, and I'm trying to figure out what really goes where. Thanks!

Ah, so close, and thanks for the info. That said, I think your tool roll is the later version (there were at least two versions, maybe more). Mine has fewer pockets....

Re: Roll Bits and Files Carpenters and Wheelwrights
Interestingly, my roll has 15 pockets, while the other has 25. I attempted to extrapolate, based on the contents list of the larger roll, and the list of tools in the overall set, but I figure to put the same items in the pockets in my roll, even with the older (fewer tools) carpenter set, stock number 41-T-3530, I'm going to be about three pockets short.
The larger roll comes from the same "Carpenters Kit #1" but with a different stock number, 41-T-3526. Strange

How close are you to filling the Kit? I may have a small group of NOS tools that were intended for it.

I'll let you know what I have tonight- I'm flying back in from VA at the moment. I think I have about (5) of the tools...

Re: Roll Bits and Files Carpenters and Wheelwrights
Great question? This tool roll was used in conjunction with the No. 1 Carpenter's Tool chest (and kit.) The brace was carried in the chest proper in a designated carrying block. The tool roll contents are repeated on the list pasted into the lid of the tool chest. The bits, countersink, screwdrivers used with the brace were carrid in the canvas tool roll which was in turn carried inside the wooden tool chest.

I don’t know if this will be of any help but Phil sent me these a couple of years ago.
