Thanks Randy. Great to see you on the gee again. It would be awesome to reunite it with the set.

The wynmkr set was missing the following sizes:
1. 7/8"
2. 25/32"
3. 11/16"
4. 5/8"

I filled in the missing pieces with the following:
1. Williams Made in USA 7/8"
2. DI Cadmium plated 25/32"
3. Williams Made in USA 11/16"
4. DI 5/8"

Sorry about the distracting white tags but this helps me seperate the original from added pieces.

If you'd gotten rid of the squirrel, you'd have almost fooled me. The format of the pics was wrong, and I thought I recognized the guy in the pics. I thought to myself that Doc ain't that old!

It's not the years!! It's the mileage rummaging through flea markets!

The wynmkr set included 5 screwdrivers.

Image

Two are easy enough, the 41-S-1076 and -1078 though the -1076 is stamped with the FSN. Still waiting for my copy of Loyd's book to read more about that. The shank of the -1078 is unmarked and I suspect this was an Ink Stamped Irwin at one point.

The other three are a little more challenging.
1. Unmarked possible electricians screwdriver 2 3/4" (possibly a 41-S-1225??)
2. Hardware Inc Tool Co 6" (possibly a 41-S-1228??)
3. Cross-Recess 5 3/4" Vlchek (possibly a 41-S-1640??)

Good job with the photos Phil but you only fooled me for around 18 seconds but it was great to put a face to a name.

Lest anyone not well-versed on these boxes be misled inadvertently, those corners had corner supports at one time. You can see the traces.

That is a historic box Phil. I wonder why the corner protectors were removed? Do you think the handle welds were to reinforce them against the massive weight of the toolkit when full! I presume it had an oiler hole in the tray. How many hinge knuckles does it have as it has the overall look of my MVMTS boxes. Perhaps we could put together some careful comparative photos and measurements to confirm this. I've always admired your white tags by the way!

Greg,
Good eyes! I will be honest and admit I had not noticed that. They show up more readily on the picture than in person.

Cliff,
I suspect the corner protectors were removed but I do not know for what reason. Most of these I find still have these in place and rarely are they even missing one. No doubt about the welding of the handles, for added reinforcement. One oiler hole. The best way I can describe the knuckles is that it has 32 full knuckles and 2 "1/4" knuckles one on each end. The missing corner protectors by outline are like those on your box and those found on EJ McAleer boxes.

Phil, my Tower Park McAleer came with one corner protector missing and my MVMTS un-marked box has had at least one replaced with a non matching one. Perhaps the quality control of the spot welds suffered occasionally during the war.

I'm with Don on this one. More likely they fell off. I see more boxes with one or two missing than all intact. My comment was so rookies wouldn't think it was acceptable as a design feature, since no feet is characteristic of 50s and later.

Here is the wrench set that came with this set. Note that there are some dupicates. Apparently the 723 was easily lost from this type set as well.
