Re: My Jeep & GMTK sets - They'll never really be finished!
An item arrived today that I’d been looking for to replace a placeholder in my Plomb based GMTK. I had a specification matching Plomb lady’s foot pry bar years ago but let it go. This one came from another collector at a reasonable price.

I received a question about paint that I’ve been using on WW2 set boxes. Here is my current favorite.

One of my goals in putting together a Plomb based GMTK is to include as many specification matching Plomb tools as possible. I would like to replace the Duro ignition wrench set with Plomb wrenches. From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t look like Plomb was offering a size equal to a Duro G/E69 so I may end up with the smaller 7 wrench set. I’m not sure at this point which way I’ll end up going. Here is a report on my progress so far. I still need to add a Plomb 3221 (41-W-1468-375 Wrench, Elec. 5/16” (15) x 9/32” (60)) which will be equal to a Duro G66.

After a brief lull, a few additions to the Plomb based set. The adjustable and short screwdriver came from another collector and the water pump pliers were a lucky garage sale find on Saturday.

Little by little the Plomb based set gets more complete. I found a wartime ignition wrench at an estate sale on Friday that replaces a prewar wrench with the same part number. It had to go through the evaporust as it was pretty rusty when found.

Another addition to the ignition wrench set arrived yesterday afternoon. In order to get the wartime example, I had to buy a wrench lot from an eBay seller.

Here is a file that I had previously only seen in catalogs. It will be added to the Plomb based GMTK as a 41-F-862 10" Bastard File.

These wood handled screwdrivers arrived recently. The Phillips drivers will likely end up in my Plomb based GMTK.

I’ve continued to make progress on the Plomb based GMTK. My most recent addition is this rare pair of lineman’s pliers. Here are some pictures along with a catalog page from Tin Medic’s Plomb catalog 19-R Third Printing.

I found these #276 6” pliers on eBay for my Plomb based GMTK. They seem to be kind of rare.

Re: My Jeep & GMTK sets - They'll never really be finished!
It’s been slow going on my Plomb based GMTK but I was able to add these “name knurl” diagonal pliers that match my water pump pliers. Unfortunately the name knurl tools command kind of high prices since they are in demand by Plomb collectors. Some research has indicated that tools with the Danielson handle pattern are likely postwar so those have been replaced with other brands.

I’ve gradually been adding a few more pieces to the Plomb based GMTK. It’s been slow going and a bit expensive.

Today I replaced the Crescent branded pliers with the Plomb 256 pliers.

This black and yellow Walden spinner showed up as an eBay buy it now and I didn’t hesitate. Since it had less yellow paint loss it replaced the one in my GMTK’s keeper set.
