I know what you spent the day doing yesterday. Setting these up for photos can be very time consuming but what better way to spend the day right? I really enjoyed the extras and the items in their original boxes. Sure the mechanic would have likely tossed the cardboard boxes but they look great in your set. I don't know why but for some reason my favorite MVMTS/GMTK item/brand has always been the OTC 1/2" drive flex handle and I was glad to see it in both of your sets. Great and inspiring work Don!

Cliff,
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. It was the pictures of your set that got me started collecting these. Don’t worry about the Ridgid pipe wrenches being neglected. I still have a few.
Phil,
It actually was a two day job to take the pictures and another day to edit the pictures and add the captions. Those took much longer than I expected. I left out a Diamond K pair of lineman’s pliers. They had escaped from the GMTK. I probably used them for a project and forgot to put them away.
I’m glad you guys enjoyed them.
Stay safe.

Don, those sets look fantastic! Now I know where all the ink stamped Irwin drivers have gone too!
I also like the carved file handle. What a unique piece. And the pic of the boxes with the fuel cans behind them is perfect.
I'm a bit surprised that you went so heavy with Barcalo...

Kudos to you!

Thanks, Jason. I would have used all Bonney wrenches but I don’t have any. I know somebody who does though. :D I took a couple of additional pictures yesterday of the Starrett 600 rule shown in my MVMTS shots.

Don, thanks for posting the pics of your sets. That's a day's work for sure, but it's encouraging to see how you're refining and improving as time passes. Plus, you've encouraged me to do some of the same!

Thanks again.

It’s been 19 months since I posted anything to this thread. I’ve found a few tools to upgrade my GMTK so thought that I would take some pictures of the set as of today. My first part of the project was to upgrade the tray to one with a better handle and a little more paint. I noticed some surface rust on the tray and some of the tools so I treated quite a few of them with Fluid Film.

Hard to believe you can keep making a great GMTK even better. Of course you know I love the extras. I also noticed you had a hard time limiting your set to just one version of some of the items. Hey, why not? It’s an awesome set Don.

This wrench arrived late this evening and missed the group shots. It will be joining it’s relatives tomorrow. I’ve been looking for one for years and this one came from an eBay seller still with cosmoline on it.

As I posted in my 2021 new finds thread, I added this NOS Irwin ink marked extra heavy duty screwdriver to the MVMTS.

Although I didn’t plan to put together another GMTK, when I was alerted to the availability of this Plomb marked GMTK style toolbox, it seemed that it could be the starting point for a Plomb based GMTK. Over the years I had considered trying to put one together but there were quite a few GMTK tools that weren’t offered by Plomb. I decided that it would be possible to just substitute other brands for the missing Plomb items. Here are some pictures showing how the project is coming along.
