Re: My Jeep & GMTK sets - They'll never really be finished!
I received a Plomb GMTK care package from Phil yesterday that filled a lot of holes in the set, which was greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phil! Several of the sockets were upgrades and I needed a Plomb speeder along with the Mossberg Ell handle. The DOE wrench came from an eBay seller and replaced a Barcalo placeholder.

I should also mention that Phil took pity on my Jeep’s old onboard toolset hammer and sent me a nice one to replace it.

A couple of additional pieces for the Plomb based GMTK arrived recently. The diagonals have a bit of rust and the brass drift has some mushrooming.

Don,
Surely we can come up with those. But I thought you were also looking for a Plomb Ell as well. There has to be a fourth one out there somewhere.

Also, just for my own knowledge when you refer to pre Danielson on the 8" and 12" adjustable wrenches what are you referring to?

The earlier adjustable wrenches were supplied by Utica and didn’t have broached hanging holes. Chrome ones are more readily available than wartime finish examples. The ones made in the Danielson factory all seem to be postwar.

Don,
Does that mean that the Plomb adj wrench you need was made by Utica for Plomb? And unbroached? Maybe it might be helpful if you explain what broached means.

Re: My Jeep & GMTK sets - They'll never really be finished!
That’s a good idea, Phil. Here are some examples of the differences in the two styles of Plomb adjustable wrenches. In the 8” adjustables in the first two pictures, the differences in the two styles of wrenches are clear. Both the 8” and 12” Danielson style wrenches were made in 1947 and have hanging holes that are broached so they can be utilized as box wrenches.

No luck so far on the adjustable wrenches but these arrived yesterday as part of a tool trade. The DBE wrench will replace the one I borrowed from the NAF toolbox and although the 3/4” chisel is a bit early (1935), these are proving a little difficult to find. This one will be an excellent placeholder.

I just can’t resist these NOS Irwin ink marked extra heavy duty screwdrivers when I see them on eBay. This one arrived yesterday and will be added to my GMTK. The existing driver will be added to the Plomb based set.

Re: My Jeep & GMTK sets - They'll never really be finished!
I found an almost complete G series Duro-Chrome ignition wrench set on eBay recently. The roll didn’t have any tears or worn spots so after adding the rare Duro screwdriver and G61 from my previous keeper set, the new set is in my GMTK. The previous keeper set will move to the Plomb based GMTK.
