That Jeep is a bit odd. The DJ (dispatch Jeep) should have the steering wheel on the right hand side...
Found a bluegrass ratchet for you over the weekend. :)

Not necessarily. I have a 1970 DJ-5A that is left hand drive, and was a Postal vehicle. Some were also sold to the Air Force for base runabout vehicles, the kinds of duties Mules/Gators/Razors perform today.

This one was right handed but the owner moved it to the left hand side. It was a nicely done jeep. Hard to make an old mail jeep look cool.

Picked up this flaring tool the other day for home use, I needed one last moth to replace the some brake lines on my 87 F150 which I rented at Autozone, If you know the vintage please let me know.

Andy,
I can’t speak to the age of your nice early Imperial Brass flaring set but from a safety standpoint, if flaring is done on brake lines, it is imperative that a double flare is used. Here are some Cal-Van sets showing the adapters necessary for double flaring.

That's a very nice example of a 41-T-3125-20 wartime flaring kit, Andy! A desirable WWII collectible! It was in several upper echelon sets. I have a theory that that number ("10-0") above the model number is a date code. It has worked out most of the time. Yours I believe is 1940, for example. What is the last patent number? It's obscured in your photo. A link to a thread for further reading is here. You will find a kit in a NOS box just like yours (Roger Milam owns it), many other examples, and more info there. (I have several flaring kits, including some double flaring kits, for your modern truck. I will gladly trade you! :))

Don, thanks for the information on the double flare on the brake lines I never knew that; Your never too old to learn something! I'll take the line off this week and re-do it.

Greg, thanks for the link very informative reading. here are the patent numbers; 1724697 & 2278932. If I decide to part with the flaring kit one day I'll let your know.

That second one is April 1942. A few fellas have the model with a third 1945 patent. Like I said, that is a nice wartime example!

Andy,
Not only is the piece itself really cool but to find it in its original box is just fantastic!

Thanks Phil,
the flea market season has been pretty dry this year finding Items. I was able to pick up 2 World War Two foot lockers, and 1500 watt generator from 1972 about one month ago but not much since.

A few more cool finds this morning. I really like the USN sledge hammer with the anchor! Other finds include a variety of 1/4" sockets including Bonney, Vlchek, Walden, S-K and New Britain, a Snap On pry bar, OTC ratchet and a really nice mechanic's brush.

I've been out there every weekend and finding some really cool stuff but I thought I'd share todays finds. The trench art envelope opener/knife has to be one of the coolest things I've found. It reads New Guinea 1944. I have found a lot of hatchets over the years usually Plumb or Amercian Fork and Hoe and usually 1944 or 45. This is the first one of these I have found, 1943.

I haven't been posting my finds in a really long time but this one was just too cool not to share. Who couldn't use a a portable bomb hoist? and check out the the handle? Very cool.
