Another nice find Phil! Does it have the oiler hole in the tote tray? Do you think it's a Union box with all those hinge knuckles and rounded corner pieces?

Cliff, sorry for just getting back to you but I was trying to find a photo of the tray supports. I suspect its a Union for all the reasons you mentioned and because of its unique tray supports.

It looks like he visited your barn and grabbed the Wynmkr box. I’m pretty sure that mine is still in my garage, since I saw it this morning. Looks like we need to add another one to the list. Congratulations, Oz.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone,

Your right Don, I'd better go check my barn. You have to watch those central Tennessee guys!

If I'm not mistaken that is the first stenciled EJ McAleer box we have seen. It is a fantastic box.

I am happy to have it. It was an obscure ebay purchase about a month ago. I upgraded mine a bit. How are you able to ID the maker? Thanks for the glowing comments!!!

I was going by the shape of the corner supports. The brand should be stamped at the edge of the lid under the handles. Sometimes it’s lightly stamped and hard to see.

Actually, my stenciled box is unstamped, but has all the traits of being made by McAleer. I would say that 50% of my McAleer style boxes are unstamped. OB, if you don’t see the markings right under the handles, it’s probably an unstamped one. You might post a picture of that area, if you get a chance.

Don and Phil,
Thanks for the evaluation. Definitely not stamped. Here's an image of that area.

Thanks Oz. If it weren’t such a fantastic box we could sand that area down to see if there’s a lightly stamped EJ McAleer but it’s not worth it. I would really like to find one of these in the wild!

Oz,
That area is identical to my stenciled but unmarked GMTK box. The last two pictures are of my marked McAleer MVMTS box. On my marked McAleer boxes the markings are usually pretty clear.

Wonderful find Oz and great condition, congratulations! Both of my stencilled MVMTS boxes are unstamped "McAleers". Corner shape, hinge knuckle numbers confirm the similarity to stamped McAleers. See Type 3 and Type 4 of my original list way up post. Both the tote handles of my examples are of a rounded shape with a sort of triangular pressing at both ends. Does yours have a flat handle? I never did add a bona fide Union 41-B-1840 to the list, but there are several examples buried in this topic including Phil's recent find.

Need to add yours to the list of worldwide, stencilled, genuine boxes!
