To me it looks like a barrel tool. The big jaws are for the 2" plug, the small jaws are for the 1/2" vent plug.

Evaporust doesn't need to have anything neutralized, totally harmless. Other products are always of interest. I could kick myself as I just returned from Ohio surrounded by farmers and millworkers at a Cushman Scooter event in Kenton (Hardin County) Between Dayton and Toledo and west of Mansfield. Corn, soybeans, wheat, and hay. I am sure the tool would have been identified.

One of our members has a Cushman Scooter that was assigned to an airborne unit. Is that event annual? If so I'd like to forward any info that you might have on a future event. Thanx!

To use a Kelating Agent such as Evaporust on a larger item such as a frame, do like I did in treating a Quad 40mm gun set from the Missouri BB here in Newport News, Va.
Set up a pool or waterproof bottom enclosure, buy a fountain pump, lawn water sprinklers and piping, erect a clear overspray booth on a tent frame, ensure the over spray hits the sides and rolls down INSIDE the bottom pool, fill with agent and turn on sprayers.
I left it going 24 hours, with less than great results as the outside temperature was effectively too cold, but it did manage to slow the Salt Air corrosion the piece had over the past 70+ years.
A small kiddie pool with small fountain pump set to hose down the frame and flow back into the pool for pickup overnight as you come out and move the base along the next day would work as well, this is how they treated the buried Oklahoma? Oldsmobile time capsule a few years back.

1st time I used the type stuff I submerged a 1918 Forge Toolbox in a 55 Gal drum half filled....next day it was NEW steel, the brass tag cleaned up with a toothbrush, the handles had back lacquer paint still on them. Flipped it over and did the other side. My biggest mistake there was using a steel 55 Gal drum, it used up some of the liquids longevity, a plastic drum would have been a better idea.

Yup! That’s plan B. Plan A is to attempt a more simple plastic sheeting rain gutter approach for each rail. I can get at the crossmembers with other means. We’ll see how the plan goes; “failing to plan is plan to fail!”

This is what I attended. The scooter came from Ohio to Florida in the 70's and I was born in Massillon Ohio so had to go. There was a nice airborne and hand cart there. I have pictures but not posted yet. Other groups with Cushmans are all around the country. I have a 1946 series 50
