Running rich

Post by graffiti » Sun Nov 22, 2020 9:39 am

Hi All,

I'm checking to see if my jeeps running rich is due to a sticking choke cable, if it isn't then any help on adjusting the solex carb at all?

Cheers in advance...

My M201 doesn't do it, but my GPW choke cable creeps with vibration, richening the mixture. I haven't done it yet, but thought about pulling the cable and putting a very slight kink half way down to add a little friction to the cable to stop unwanted movement.

Regarding the Solex carb, I think there's only a limited amount of adjustment at the bottom end, to stop squaddies fiddling with the carb in the field. Im sure there's no top end adjustment without dismantling the carb and changing parts to change to fuel/air mixture. It's a long time since I had to look at the solex instructions.
