numbers stamped in body

Post by Frank USMC » Sat Feb 08, 2020 1:45 pm

I have a 1955? Hotchkiss jeep and we are sanding it down. On the passenger side about 8 inches above the side step, we found heavy stamped into the sheet metal "R 143" what does that mean?
