Re: ITM Jeep
Hello,
Looking great !!!
You must be almost done with your beautiful Jeep !!!
Nice paint color, I am "almost" at that point on my 1943 GPW body .
I have a flag painted on the side of my Hotchkiss M201 body that came on a CJ3a .
My friend in France figured out what unit it represented in the French Army. I was very happy about that !!
It is for a Combat Engineering unit.
This jeep was stationed in Kehl, Germany , across the river from Strasbourg, France.
As a matter of fact, when I was a kid I stayed in an old inn in Kehl Kork , Germany with my Father and many other WW2 Veterans on a Return to Europe tour.
It was a nice little town, and now to know that my French Jeep body came from there is pretty cool !!
It has more meaning for me, and I plan to build a complete M201 from parts I have found here in the USA. I just need an M201 frame !
Best Regards,
Ray

Re: ITM Jeep
Thank you
I'm glad you like my work.
I'll have the bodywork done by Christmas.
I'll finally be on the road in the spring.
I also had the original 159 Mountain Division emblem on my window.
The window was from another car. It doesn't match the markings on the bumper.
The story of your car is interesting. Makes the jeep all the more rare.
Best regards Standa

Hello Standa,
That is great to hear !!
You are doing an outstanding job on your restoration, and it will be awesome to see it all done.
I am restoring my 1943 Ford Jeep right now, and it is coming along nicely too.
I try to do a little everyday, and have almost finished blasting and priming the frame. Once that is done I can start assembling the jeep.
The body is going to get blasted next, but all the metal work is done.
I still have to learn to rivet, and install the rear seat brackets that someone removed.
Keep us posted !!!
Best Regards,
Ray

Re: ITM Jeep
Hello Ray,
I hope to have everything ready by spring.
It's not going as fast as I'd like.
It's a lot of covid-19 here right now.
The kids' school's closed and I have to be home with them.
I'm working nights on the Jeep.
Do you have a Jeep restoration thread on the forum?
Regards Standa

Re: ITM Jeep
Hello Standa ,
The Jeep is looking good!
Stay safe there with your Family !
Hopefully the virus will burn out by later next year.
Yes, I have a restoration thread for my 1943 Ford GPW restoration.
It is coming along, a little bit at a time, but trying to make progress everyday .

I am building this jeep mostly from spare parts that other people decided were too much work to repair.
I was lucky enough to buy those parts when they are posted for sale.
Some parts were pretty rough, but I have restored them back to good solid shape.
A complete jeep built up from many original restored parts
It is a lot of fun, and very satisfying seeing the progress, and getting close to the finish line !!
Best Regards,
Ray

Hello Stanles,
Thanks !
A Happy and Healthy New Year 2022 to you and your Family !!!
Keep staying safe, and Keep ' em Rolling !!
The paint going on is a great step toward finishing your beautiful Jeep !!
Looks great !
I took my 1942 GPW out for a ride on New Years to start the year out right !!
I also had a Czech beer once back.
Well, maybe a few for good measure
Here are a few pics: Best Regards,
Ray
