What type of foot pedals should be on WW2 rebuilt Hotchkiss?

Post by GPW7588 » Wed Jan 07, 2009 2:01 pm

Should the brake and clutch pedals on a Hotchkiss have squared edges as on a WILLYS MB or Rounded outer corners as on Ford GPW?

Were different types used on early Hotchkiss WW2 rebuilds and the later M201s?

Whatever type used, did they opt for cast or stamped steel?

It is not clear to me what you mean by WWII rebuilt Hotchkiss.
Are you wondering about a WWII U.S. made jeep ( be it a GPW or an MB rebuilt at La Maltournèe plant ( nothing to do with Hotchkiss factories), or about an Hotchkiss jeep, whenever this was rebuilt?
A La Maltournèe rebuilt jeep could end up with any mixture of parts: the later it was rebuilt, the greater percentage of Hotchkiss made parts would get into the mixture.

If the jeep is a MB or GPW but rebuilted at La Maltournée, you can find every possible kind of pedals as lucakiki said

But if the jeep is a M201 6 or 24v, it's a steel stamped? pedal like this one

Sorry to repeat myself, but the point to keep in mind is that La Maltournèe is a Government owned plant.
They did rebuild US made jeep since 1946, while Hotchkiss started to build jeeps in 1955.
Obviously, it is in 1955 at the soonest that any Hotchkiss could be rebuilt at La Maltournèe.
At la Maltournèe they rebuilt subassemblies, engines, trannies, steering boxes, etc. plus they used leftover US parts, or Hotchkiss made parts.
Some jeeps, including Hotchkisses, got rebuilt twice at la Maltournèe.
