M201 MG Pedestal mount

Post by Dusky » Wed Nov 01, 2023 3:50 pm

Hey all,

I was curious if the M201 has the same mg mounting point for the 1919 as the MB willy's does. I've tried finding photos of m201 frames and it's rather difficult.

Thank you for your time!

The machine gun mounting plate on the M201 chassis (frame) is exactly the same as on the Willys MB: 2 large holes and 2 pilot holes.
The only stand out difference between the frame of aM201 and a MB is the battery frame, of which there are 2 inline on the M201 to hold the 2 12Volt batteries.

Thank you for the information, the M201 im looking at was converted to 6 volt so I'd imagine the bracket was modified or removed? I'm trying to make it look 95% correct for reenactments, hoping the last 5-10% will be something only die hards would notice.

Hello Dusky,
Welcome to the G503 !

Some early M201 were 6 Volt, and many US jeeps were rebuilt by France and were still kept as 6 volt jeeps.

That may be why you only have 1 battery tray, or even a US frame.
Here is some info, you may just have an early M201.

Some additional M201 information from the site.
M201's are beautiful jeeps built under license from Willys !!

If you get a chance, post some pics of your jeep !

Best Regards,
Ray
