wiring on 24v oil gauge

Post by timo376 » Fri Oct 09, 2020 2:02 am

i have recently purchased a 1957 M201. The oil gauge isn't registering
I have checked the wiring and would like to confirm which wire goes to which post on the back of the gauge?
There are 3 terminals and at present they are wired as follows..
Red to the circuit breaker, middle (black) to earth, black white stripe to sensor/engine

There is a wiring diagram on M201.com Perhaps it will help.

It can be found here - http://www.m201.com/tech/elect.htm

Remove the contact at the engine side on the sensor.
Switch the ignition key on .
Touch the ground with that contact at the end of the wire and if the gauge is OK it should register at full scale.
If the gauge is OK, that means that your sensor needs to be replaced.

looking forward to it too,
enjoying doing all those little jobs that seem a good idea at the time !!
decided to renew the wiring on the back lights and add an extra brake light bulb, trying to identify which wire is for what is fun, especially when the bits of dried muck on the chassis falls into your face :-)

Do you have a Yeager oil pressure gauge? Have you fixed the problem?

Not fixed yet, I'm doing stuff at the back of the jeep, as the garage space is restricted. I'm working my way forward :-)
