John, that is exactly my thought! Run Forrest Run saved me the trouble of expressing the concept in good english,so just let me say I wholeheartedly agree with him. Thank you for another great tutorial!

John,

First let me say thanks. Keep it going.

Second is a question. Where the pins were used on the water jacket crack, is there any way you can elaborate on the process for installing the repair pins? I would really like to learn more about this procedure.

Thanks again,
DA

Hi John,

Much appreciate rebuild articles, has given me the confidence to have a go! however, I have come across the same identical crack, as shown in your pic 1b along the top of the water jacket. This being the only damage I am not to sure whether it is necessary to have it repaired as It doesnt seem to be in a place that may result in problems later on. What do you think yourself. could it lead to problems later on?

regards

kevin

Hello there,

Can you please tell me where to purchase the Std. sleeves? Going through a re-build at the moment. Great article. Thank you.

Sleeves don't come in sizes...just a sleeve, it is bored out to the piston you want to use...
bored out to standard with new pistons is common...
as far as buying them, the machine shop gets them...never bought any??

For weld repair info google search "metal stitching" crack repairs. I had my block repaired at the nbr 2,3 exhaust valve seat on my Fhead block.

Many thanks to Mr. Barton for his engine thread it helped me a bunch!!

Just a note. On my system some pics did not show up.

Part 1 - Pic after Intro and Pics K,L and M.
Part 2 - 2nd pic
Part 3 - Pics 29 and 30

Might be old links or something with my system.

Have a good day. :D
