question
John,
What holds the clutch control lever in place? is it the spring and the clutch release bearing carrier?. I also noticed in your 2nd to last photo, a nut behind the the clutch contol lever. Am I missing a piece this nut goes to?
Thanks
Dave

I just completed my T84 rebuild. Great posting on this procedure John, Thanks.
One of my lock/set screws for the shift plate was not usable. I learned that this is one of the few parts not available for the MB. My partner at work fabricated one for me and turned out great. Other than the fact that it took him awhile, he could have made several to offer for sale. Perhaps someone with a C & C would care to venture?

Re: trnsmissions ..the END!!
wonderful job on the rebuild great photos and walk through but I have one question. When I put the transfer case on the transmission the input shaft and main shaft become hard to turn to the point where there isn't any neutral but when the transfercase is off and i have the rear bearing wired tight it spins freely when in neutral. it seems the problem is near the blocking rings. any suggestions should i just put in and run it or is there something wrong. thanks

Re: transmissions ..the END!!
Can anyone please shed some light into the proper way to shim the transmission main shaft bearing? After installing the front bearing retainer and bolting the transmission to the transfer case for a test fit, everything tightened up..

G'day John,
I was just looking at your gearbox rebuild. Did you put it back in a jeep and if so does it pop out of second gear?

Re: trnsmissions ..the END!!
My transmission did the same thing when I test fit it to the transfercase and after lots of frustration and yelling at my dad I call willys jeep parts and asked if it should be this way he said yes and that it was the felt oil seals adding the pressure and that once I had it in a jeep and a motor powering it that it would be fine that the oils seals would form so we put it in and we have had no problems with it. goodluck

John,
I just want to thank you for your time and effort, I've never worked on transmissions before and you've given me vital knowledge to start.
