Quick question about the weight stamped on original data plates I found on the internet...
Why are some original plates stamped 3253 lbs, 3250, 3125, 2430, 2288, 2265, etc.?
I could understand a little variation due to changes or accessories added, but which is right for a 1942 GPW produce in late April, 1942?
Thanks!
Brent

The heavy ones are Gross; the light ones are Net. Why they vary? Each assembly plant made up their own. And there were changes such as more spring leaves.

Re: Q about the vehicle weight stamped on original data plates
Hi Brent, Gross weight 2288 is stamped on the data plate on my Dallas built GPW17331 d.o.d. April 21 1942
In reality 2288Lbs is the Net weight, just as DPCD states.
My GPW was weighed for its Dutch registration at 1100Kgs (about 2440 Lbs) with a half tank of fuel and basic tools included.
