Tie Rod Thread Size

Post by Raflad » Thu Jan 20, 2022 2:49 pm

I need to purchase a tap to clean up the left hand thread on one of my tie rods. I did a search on here and found two different sizes mentioned, 11/16 - 18 and 5/8 -18. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

The large size was not introduced until post war. Yours should be 11/16th. The tie rod is probably cheaper than the tap though. Check Ron's inventory.

Also inspect your rod very well; they are quite thin and if you have rust inside, that makes it thinner; not something you want to break.
