Hello Gentlemen,
I happened to run across a starter that based on the conversation on another thread and other posted threads may be a GPW starter. See some pictures below and let me know your thoughts. I personally own a M38A1 and will not use this one. I will clean it up take it to a starter shop to check out and will probably post it for sale.

The front piece is gpw, that part can still be purchased nos for less than a hundred.
is there a tag on the brush cover? are the the brushes F marked? is the armature F marked, if you rebuild it, look at the parts. It only take a few minutes to pull the brushes and open it up.
