Dimmer switch.

Post by Ron E. » Wed Oct 20, 2021 1:35 pm

This photo shows the mounting holes for the dimmer switch. Same vehicle as in previous post. The switch now available will not fit unless the mounting holes are relocated.Any photos or part # for the original?

I have used repro switches without issue; where did you get it?

Yes of course. Jeep Draw has a drawing of the driver's floor.
I have not noticed the holes being angled like that, but it is the spacing that is important. I understood your problem to be, the "available" switch will not fit your floor.
I see only one option, if you want your switch to fit. Chicken. or egg thing. Switch mounting holes can't be altered, but floors can. Assuming your switch is right.
Let me put it this way; the switches I have got from Ron are identical to original in hole spacing.

It seems that the 2 holes are incorrectly located around the switch main hole.

Here is the drawing of the floor on the driver side.
You will find the dimmer switch holes asymmetrical exact positions around the main hole..

In the absence of any info to identify the switch used in my 42 GPW, I will be closing the holes and re-drilling to fit the one available. Thanks to those who responded.Ron E.

Why is the floor drawing in metric and not agree with the dimmer switch which is in imperial and right dimensions for switch. The metrics are not the same size.
