Ford GPW Bolt Safety Wiring Location
Hi All,
I am slowly replacing parts (as $$ allows) that needs to be changed so that my Jeep is accurate as a Ford GPW. One detail that I cannot find information one is the bolt safety wiring locations that are visible on the jeep. (I am not concerned with the internal safety wiring that may be in the engine).
The areas I have found bolts that have the hole in them for the wiring are:
1. Transfer case to transmission bolts (3 bolts that are on left, none for the upper right and front.)
2. Front gear shift to transfer case.
3. Timing Chain Cover????
Am I missing any?
Thanks for the comments.

Timing chain cover? Never saw any lacing on that. Not a place that would need it. Search through your SNL. Won't take long; you should be studying it every night anyway. I do.

Hi.
Depending on your contract build, your GPW may have the 2 bolts in the front floor to chassis with holes in the head. They are not wired for any reason, but are a generic Ford part used in that spot and so still have the hole.
Some more info.

Great goal to make your GPW more correct!
Cheers, Ian.

Re: Ford GPW Bolt Safety Wiring Location
Hi Badshot, I will go and check the safety wires on my GPW early next week. Vehicle is garaged away from home. As far as I remember the only safety wires are on the rear and front bolts of the transfercase.

Re: Ford GPW Bolt Safety Wiring Location
As promised, I did a check on the safety wires on my GPW's transferbox (the only place they are supposed to be)
Both front and rear bearing housings are wired all the way round : 5 bolts on the front housing and 4 on the rear.
Also one wire from the shifter shaft securing bolt to the gearbox.
Pictures are dark, but so is my garage

The adjusting bolt at the anchor on the external band type handbrake should be wired. This bolt is at 3 o'clock on the mechanism when viewed from underneath looking forward. Sorry cannot find a picture

Re: Ford GPW Bolt Safety Wiring Location
Here's my D-18 transfer case all wired up. I wired it exactly as it was originally wired (which had never been taken apart).
And on the other side... the idea is you always want the wire to be 'pulling' to the right so the bolt cannot spin to the left.
