GPW Tool Kit location

Post by Scratch » Fri Jun 11, 2021 6:46 pm

'44 GPW.
I have the old canvas bag for my tool kit, the one that looks like a big envelope with a strap. It has the hard plastic (I assume) strip sewn into the opening. Is that kit supposed to go somewhere else besides the rear tool boxes? That plastic strip makes it barely fit in there. If that strip was gone, it'd fit fine, which makes me wonder is it supposed to go somewhere else? Not that there's a lot of room in these things, but maybe I'm not thinking of something.

Hi Steve,

Lots of controversy over the years the metal strip. Check out this thread and some of the links mentioned in it. Disregard the deleted threads. viewtopic.php?f=48&t=262545&hilit=tool+ ... p#p1529050

The strip bends and there is only one place to put the bag.

That's what I figured, just wondering if there was something I wasn't thinking of. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. Interesting info about such a small item. I also love seeing all the old pictures you all find that I'd never see otherwise.
