Edit feature update

Post by Bill H. » Thu May 06, 2021 11:55 am

I'm pleased to announce a change in the edit policy of g503.com. Previously posts could be edited and or modified with no restrictions and could be made at any time. That generous feature was abused by a handful of members who were considered stand up guys, trustworthy if you will. Because of that abuse and the horrible loss of very useful information the policy was to limit the time period of which a post could be edited.

Today, after much careful consideration, the time period has been extended to one (1) week, seven (7) days. Please do not abuse this policy change. We strive to give the best, most enjoyable and informative experience possible at g503.com.

Okay, enjoy and get back to jeeps!

Thanks to those involved in this decision.
I think it is more reasonable, considering that as I age I seem to screw up more on typing coherent passages. :?

That’s good news and good decision. One week(7 days) is a good timing.
Thanks a lot to the board.

Good news. This will give certain posters time to sober up and revisit their post.

You didn't do anything wrong.

BTW, do you know if Frank Surroz is still alive? I bought a new 2000 Dodge Dakota from him. What a wonderful guy! Coincidently, he used to have a car dealership here in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

I don't know if he is still around,Surroz did have a dealership here in Visalia years ago. I think they got squeezed out when they made the Auto Mall on Ben Maddox. So what kind of Jeep do you have? I have a CJ2A I was told it's a 1948 I found the tag on frame #83712 and it matches the tag on body. I don't have a pink on it got a bill of sale. I sure hope I can get it in my name. I got a lot of money in this thing,it's like a boat a hole in the water that you just keep pouring money into lol. I went to change the oil on transfer case and transmission the other day got 80% water nothing in the pto. Do you know how much oil goes in pto? I want to run it and drain it to see what comes out. I did that with the other two and got rust I think Brown oil. If you can give me any advice it would be much appreciated. Sincerely Mike Ritter Ps Hope to hear back from you!

1962 AMC M422A1 Mighty Mite and 1965 Stevens M416B1 1/4 ton trailer. Not sure about gear oil capacity for the PTO.

On most gear cases you just fill it until it spills out the side plug hole, then hurry up and install the plug before you make a mess. Often the this is the same hole you'll use to fill the case.

Thank you I kind of figured that I was want to know so I could buy the right amount. I found a CJ2A manual on line that is free. How I know why there was no oil in the pto. I put some oil in and was running it walked back to take a look and had a big mess oil every where. Thank god I had a piece of plastic down. So I was told the jeep was a 48 I don't think so if the serial numbers go in order its a late 46 or early 47 my SN is83712 what do you think? what kind of jeep you got?

Mike, let's take this down to the CJ section.

It would be nice if PDF files could be uploaded to posts. They are often smaller than image files yet easier to read.

I believe that you are allowed to upload zip files.
So zip the pdf to a .zip file with size <256kB and you can attach it to your post.
Yes it would be convenient to upload pdf files which are incredibly well compressed.

I don't think its very safe to embed .pdf or .zip for that matter on a public forum. Very easy to throw in malware and most users here probably would not know how to combat this.
