Strange front diff drive shafts.

Post by dgrev » Mon Apr 19, 2021 3:15 am

I always thought that WW2 diff drive shafts all had threads on the ends.

I checked the manual and it shows Rzeppa, Bendix and Tracta all having threads and gives hub cap shimming instructions for all 3.

See photos, what do I have here?

The shafts looks to have been factory done without threads, you can see the chamfer and the centre hole.

Any suggestions?

Those are post WWII axles found on CJ's, M38 and A1's. They make it easy to attach manual hubs.

Ok thanks.

Be interesting to see if they are in usable condition. Curious that they are in that diff as it came out of a chassis from a Willys script body.
